Last week, FytoFend participated in the VINOENVI 2026 conference, a key event dedicated to sustainable viticulture and environmental innovation in winemaking, held in Mikulov, Czech Republic.

During the conference, Raffael Buonatesta and Nicolas De Menten represented FytoFend alongside the company’s Czech distributor Biocont, presenting the latest developments in biocontrol solutions for vineyard protection.

VINOENVI is recognized as an important meeting point for winegrowers, researchers and plant protection specialists, focusing on topics such as ecological vineyard management, environmental impact reduction and innovative crop protection strategies.

FytoSave® and Biosolutions for Sustainable Viticulture

During the event, FytoFend presented FytoSave®, a biocontrol solution designed to support sustainable vineyard protection.

FytoSave® is based on the patented COS-OGA technology, a complex of chitosan oligomers and oligogalacturonides that activates the plant’s natural immune system. Instead of directly targeting pathogens, the technology stimulates the vine’s innate defence mechanisms, allowing plants to respond faster and more efficiently to disease pressure.

This mode of action makes FytoSave® particularly relevant for managing two major fungal diseases affecting vineyards:

  • Powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator)
  • Downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

By strengthening the plant’s natural defences, the product can help winegrowers reduce reliance on conventional fungicides while maintaining crop health and productivity.

Supporting Integrated Pest Management in Vineyards

One of the central themes of the VINOENVI conference is the development of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies in viticulture.

Biocontrol technologies such as FytoSave® contribute to these strategies by helping growers:

  • reduce chemical inputs in vineyard protection programs
  • improve environmental sustainability in wine production
  • comply with evolving European agricultural regulations.

These approaches are increasingly important as the wine sector seeks solutions that combine agronomic performance, environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.

Partnership with Biocont in the Czech Republic

FytoFend’s participation in VINOENVI 2026 also highlighted the company’s collaboration with Biocont, its distributor in the Czech Republic.

Through this partnership, FytoFend aims to support the adoption of innovative biosolutions for viticulture, helping winegrowers transition toward more sustainable and resilient crop protection programs.
